The full-time salary range for this position is $42,000-$59,000. The Part-time salary range will be prorated, depending on the number of hours worked.

Human Kinetics is headquartered in Champaign, IL. This position can be full- or part-time (32+ hours) and is 100% onsite or hybrid, with at least 3 days on site. The ideal candidate will reside within 1.5 hours of Champaign, IL.

Job Summary

The marketing and social media content manager is responsible for creating video content to promote the release of new books. They will also be featured as a model in exercise technique videos and serve as a backup to the Marketing Video Content Manager to create video content to increase engagement across Human Kinetics’ various social media platforms. They will have firsthand knowledge and experience as a fitness professional, enabling them to converse comfortably on camera about physical activity related content. They will be innovative and creative with content, follow best practices for social media, and stay current with changing trends. They will also be responsible for developing and implementing marketing and publicity plans for products in assigned subject areas. This includes planning, executing, and analyzing results for various direct mail, email, print, digital, social media, and other promotional efforts; planning and conducting publicity efforts; establishing and keeping within allocated budgets; making ongoing program recommendations based on market trends, audiences, and previous results data; understanding assigned subject areas and associated target markets; and defining and recommending additional revenue generating opportunities.

Essential Functions

  1. Develop book review videos that highlight the contents of new books. These videos will be shared on our social media platforms and Amazon.
  2. Serve as a model in exercise technique videos.
  3. Serve as needed as a backup to the Marketing Video Content Manager to facilitate interviews with authors, and demonstrate and explain exercise technique.
  4. Aid associate director and marketing staff in implementing social media strategies to meet established objectives and established key performance indicators (KPIs).
  5. Assist in managing corporate social sites (scheduling/sharing daily content, creating editorial calendars, etc.)
  6. Manage all marketing efforts for assigned subject areas, including budgeting, project/campaign planning and execution, copy development, proofreading, email newsletters, social media pages, and communicating with and advising authors/editors on strategies for maximizing sales.
  7. Identify the most relevant product content for target audiences and repurpose it for promotional efforts and to increase customer engagement through all applicable marketing channels (direct mail, email, social media, digital, etc.) Conduct post analysis reporting for campaigns across all channels to determine effectiveness and drive future efforts.
  8. Instruct and guide the Marketing Associate as needed as they implement campaigns in assigned areas.

Secondary Functions

  1. Assist the Associate Director of Marketing and Social Media as needed with analysis, reporting, and responding to customer inquiries.
  2. Assist as needed with promotional aspects of exhibit planning, both virtual, and in-person, such as booklist and marketing materials.

Job Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in physical activity field, kinesiology, or exercise science OR degree in marketing or other communications-related field with professional exercise science/fitness experience.

Preferred Education: Exercise science or fitness certification through a nationally accredited organization.

Required Experience: Professional experience in fitness industry, as well as baseline knowledge of marketing and social media.

Preferred Experience: Experience with video for social media.
